I went out roaming today with my new camera, partly to test drive it, partly to spend some time out in the sun in between patches of rain. There’s a lot of amazing scenery along the coast nearby but it was this brushy cluster that really caught my eye. Whenever i’m taking photos my eyes and mind are always racing around looking for interesting light, angles, textures and colours, often found in the least obvious places.

I just checked out the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Australian Museum. It was inspiring as always and well worth a visit. However, I’ve been every year for as long as I can remember and always feel like i’m seeing the same images year after year. Nevertheless, it’s the 20% that are so unique and original that make it worth going back. (I wouldn’t count the above image as one of them, but I couldn’t find the ones that I’m thinking of to share). There are some images from the exhibition that will stick in my mind for a long time to come, with true “wow” factor. See for yourself and let me know what you think.
